George Clooney Is Teasing Another Hair Transformation Ahead of Sunday’s Tony Awards
George Clooney changed up his hair for Broadway, but he’s ready to go back to his silver fox looks.
In a recent appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Clooney revealed that he’ll be saying goodbye to his black hair, a look he embraced for his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck.
For the talk show appearance, the Wolfs star appeared in a discreet baseball cap. “I’m wearing a hat to hide my bad hair,” he joked to Meyers. “It’s bad, it’s still dark on top, but it’s gray on the bottom.”
Meyers then asked what Clooney’s wife Amal thinks of the look. “She finds it funny, she’ll be glad when it’s gone,” he said. As a reminder, Clooneys, who share 8-year-old twins Ella and Alexander, have been married since 2014.
“It’s horrible,” he continued. “It looks like you’re going through some sort of midlife crisis. I’m 64, midlife is a little stretch.”
In the play, Clooney plays veteran CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow during his conflict with U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s.
Clooney, who is nominated for a Tony Award for the first time this Sunday for his role, then revealed that the black hues will be gone as soon as Sunday night. “The last show is Sunday, we do a matinee, and by the time we go to the Tonys that night, it’ll be gone,” he said.
“I may have a shaved head, I may look like Yul Brynner,” he said, with Meyers chiming in that looking like Brynner could be good luck for the awards night. To that, Clooney wasn’t exactly sure. From the looks of it, he isn’t hoping to take home the award. “I’m not thinking very positively about winning a Tony,” he said.
Clooney is nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play category alongside Cole Escola for Oh, Mary!, Jon Michael Hill and Harry Lennix for Purpose, Daniel Dae Kim for Yellow Face and Louis McCartney for Stranger Things: The First Shadow.
