European missile developer and manufacturer MBDA said the company is currently working on a Russian hypersonic glide vehicle for the German military. Peter Heilmeier, sales manager for MBDA, told German publication Die Welt the vehicle’s development was requested by the German Armed Forces’ procurement agency BAAINBw as a response to “threats of a certain type”, such as missiles presented to Vladimir Putin. Mr Heilmeier said the missile would be used to “crack modern [Russian] tanks”.
