Ginny & Georgia Star Scott Porter Has a Theory About Season 3’s Shocking Baby Cliffhanger

If you’ve seen thelatest season of Ginny & Georgia, then you know the show left fans with quite a cliffhanger in the season 3 finale. In a moment none of us could’ve expected, Brianne Howey’s character Georgia, who had just been found not guilty of murder, realizes she’s pregnant. The problem, you might ask? Well, because she’s been intimate with both Paul (Scott Porter) and Joe (Raymond Ablack), viewers (and Georgia herself) have no idea who the dad is!

Speaking of the cliffhanger at the Motion Picture & Television Fund NextGen Annual Summer Party, Porter shared his theory of the baby-daddy drama.

“Listen, our show deals in high drama,” he told Us Weekly. “We rarely take the easy way out.”

To Porter, the easy way out would be to have the baby be Joe’s, given their characters’ pent-up chemistry and almost soulmate connection throughout their lives. But, “if you want all of this craziness to continue,” Porter continued, “it being Paul’s baby is pretty interesting.”

As for Paul and Georgia’s relationship, the couple got divorced this season during Georgia’s murder trial. The two quickly made up when Georgia faked a pregnancy, but split for good when Paul, who’s the town mayor, realized he was being lied to.

“The show has definitely let you know that there is something that needs to be explored with Joe and Georgia,” Porter continued. “If you want to see that to its complete [and] happy ending — which I’m not sure we get on our show — then Joe should be the dad.”

Regardless of what the writers chose, Porter has full confidence that season 4 (which has already been renewed by Netflix) will be another must-watch season.

“I know our writers are gonna handle this incredibly well,” he said. “They’re gonna keep you on the edge of your seat. Right now, I’m a fan just like you. So I know nothing and I will wait and see.”

Howey also opened up about the finale in a recent feature with StyleCaster.

“It’s a very wild ending,” she said of the cliffhanger. “It poses a few questions, right? Is that what’s happening and with whom? Because Georgia was intimate with more than one person this season. It’s not an issue, but it’s not something Georgia was planning on doing.”

“I can only imagine the conversations of having to tell Ginny that, after what Ginny has just gone through, and I can only imagine the conversations about having to tell that about the people she’s been intimate with this season,” Howey continued. “Yes, so maybe it’s coming at a time where Georgia is finally starting to self-reflect and ask for help, that maybe she could break some cycles. Round three, she’s a different person.”

As for season 4, Howey also can’t wait. “The stakes just keep getting higher and higher with each season. So I am positive that for Season 4, the stakes will be higher than ever,” she said.
