PETALING JAYA: Injured men's singles shuttler Ng Tze Yong is inching closer to a return to full court training.
Tze Yong underwent surgery last July in Doha to repair an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear on his right knee.
Singles coaching director Kenneth Jonassen is optimistic that the 25-year-old could return to full training soon provided he passes a few tests.
"Tze Yong has been doing skills training for the past two to three months but has not returned to full training yet," said Jonassen.
"When we can see positive results on a few tests, we can push him more. We have to listen to the experts when it comes to his recovery progress.
"It’s the ongoing exercises that will really test the knee and his ability to recover from day to day
"I expect him quite soon to be able to join daily training sessions here (Academy Badminton Malaysia).
"Fingers crossed things are moving in the right direction for him," added Jonassen.
Jonassen, though is remaining cautious about Tze Yong's return to competitions, warning that pushing the player too fast too soon can cause a setback in his recovery.
