Government ensures fair enforcement of law on Jalur Gemilang issue

PUTRAJAYA: The government will ensure fairness in the enforcement of the law on matters relating to the Jalur Gemilang, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi, also reminded the public not to take or carry out any actions beyond the limits of the law.

"In recent weeks, several incidents have occurred that may have caused some concern among the people about flying the Jalur Gemilang.

"The government will ensure that, in terms of enforcing the law, we will act fairly, both in investigations and in bringing any party to court.

"At the same time, the people are reminded not to take or carry out any action beyond the limits of the law," he said.

Fahmi was speaking at the handover ceremony of sponsorship contributions from the ministry's strategic partners for the 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.

He also urged the public to fly the national flag with pride and confidence.

"It is our patriotic duty to fly the national flag, the Jalur Gemilang, (so) do not be afraid.

"This is our shared month, the entire month belongs to all Malaysians.

"Do not worry, do not feel anxious. We will witness this National Month as a platform to reignite and rekindle our love for the nation," he said.

Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Mohd Ismail said police would continue to take firm action against any party acting beyond the boundaries of the law.

He said five investigation papers had been submitted to the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC) over cases involving the Jalur Gemilang being displayed upside down.

A total of six such cases have been recorded nationwide, two in Johor, two in Penang, and one each in Selangor and Negri Sembilan.
