What happens when technology fails us?
Humans to the rescue, of course.
In a video posted to Instagram by The HK Observer, aHong Kong traincaptain was heard hilariously imitating the standard passenger announcement after the automated system malfunctioned.
Asking passengers to “please step back from the train doors”, he then proceeded to add his very own “du du du du du duuu” warning chime that the carriage doors were about to close.
Now, that is one way to lighten up rush hour.
A netizen who claimed to be on the said train commented: “All the people on board laughed so hard at it”.
“Keep this way of announcement, please! And give that train captain a raise!” read another comment.
While we clearly have a soft spot for the iconic voice on our Singapore trains, it won’t hurt to do a version in Singlish, right?
No better time than SG60, right?
That said, not everyone was fully on board and some netizens felt a balance is needed to avoid confusion.
“Personality aside, it might be disorientating, especially for tourists who might not familiar with local slang,” read a comment.
