Hong Kong celebrity couple George Lam and Sally Yeh have been happily married for 29 years and are often hailed as one of the industry’s most loving pairs.

In a recent interview with Hong Kong media, the stars – who tied the knot on July 17, 1996 – gave fans a rare glimpse into their married life, admitting that they often clashed in the past because of different living habits.

While Lam, 77, prefers peace and quiet before bedtime, Yeh, 63, enjoys unwinding with late-night TV marathons and time on the computer.

This often led to spats over noise, with Lam once proposing that his wife use headphones – a suggestion she dismissed as “impractical”.

Yeh then lightheartedly recalled one incident when Lam resorted to wearing earplugs to bed, and she ended up getting locked out of their room. 

“No matter how hard I knocked on the door, he wouldn’t wake up. In the end, I had to stay in a hotel for the night,” she said. 

To preserve harmony, the couple ultimately decided it’s best to sleep in separate rooms – a practice they still maintain today, with Lam upstairs and Yeh downstairs. 

“Sleeping in separate rooms is the key to lasting marriage… Or living separately,” Lam joked.

When it comes to quarrels, Yeh playfully described herself as “one-sided,” admitting that she does all the talking while Lam stays quietly composed.

“Silence is golden. Staying calm helps resolve conflicts,” he said.

To this, Yeh cheekily retorted: “I speak because I’m right!”

For the couple, bickering often ends in laughter – a testament to the warmth that have carried them through nearly three decades together.

Reflecting on their relationship, Yeh shared that being with Lam brings her immense comfort.

“That sense of security is so important to me,” she added.

In another update, Yeh and Lam are set to hold their five-night We Are One concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum from Oct 9 to 13.

Sharing his thoughts on the upcoming show, Lam said: “At this age, being able to share the stage with my wife and have the support of the audience is truly rare.”
