HK noodle chain makes Malaysian debut at Bandar Sunway mall
A HONG KONG-based company has opened its first outlet in Malaysia, offering Mixian rice noodles.
Fans of TamJai Mixian can now get a taste of the iconic noodles at Sunway Pyramid, Bandar Sunway in Selangor.
Achieved through a partnership between Tam Jai International (TJI) and Hextar Retail Bhd, a subsidiary of Hextar Group of Companies (Hextar), the non-halal eatery launch was a milestone in the group’s expansion into South-East Asia.

The opening ceremony was attended by TJI executive director and chief executive officer Daren Lau, Hextar group CEO Datuk Eddie Ong as well as Hong Kong celebrities Grace Chan and Kevin Cheng.
The new outlet will benefit from the mall’s popularity and closeness to various attractions and institutions.
More than 136sq m in space, it can seat up to 57 patrons.
The opening also marked the regional debut of the “TamJai Mixian” identity, combining the two brands (TamJai Yunnan Mixian and TamJai SamGor Mixian) into a modern version of Hong Kong’s iconic noodle culture.
The eatery has a red and green colour scheme, “spicy clouds” neon lights, and a mixian- inspired pendant.
An open kitchen allows diners to witness the artistry behind each bowl.
Hextar Retail Bhd is a multi- concept food and beverage operator that has lent its local market expertise and networks to the development of TamJai Mixian here.
Ong said, “We are pleased to introduce Hong Kong’s No.1 noodle brand to Malaysia’s dynamic fast-casual food scene.
“This partnership with TJI combines their culinary expertise with our local market knowledge and operational excellence.”
Lau said the Malaysian debut was a step forward in TJI’s expansion across the fast growing Asean market.
“We are confident that our proven brand concept will resonate well with local consumers.
“We look forward to advancing our mission of ‘Bringing Tam Jai Taste to the World’,” he said.
The outlet will showcase TamJai Mixian’s signature menu alongside options tailored for Malaysian palates.
Highlights include the TamJai Supreme Mixian, a cult favourite with 15 toppings.
Fans can also enjoy the eatery’s trademark TuFei Chicken Wingettes that are coated in a secret spice blend.
Also on offer is the Century Egg with Garlic and Chilli, a rich appetiser inspired by a 500-year-old recipe.
Other favourites include Sliced Pork Belly with Mashed Garlic served with homemade sauce, and the refreshing Hong Kong-style Lemon Tea which pairs perfectly with spicy broths.
