Hajiji says Sabah assembly may be dissolved soon

KUALA LUMPUR: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has hinted that the state Legislative Assembly may be dissolved soon.

According to "Sinar Harian", Hajiji declined to reveal the date but quipped that the media could take a one- to two-week holiday before any announcement.

"Not dissolving just yet. You can take a week or two off."

He also declined to say whether any dissolution would take place after Malaysia Day.

On July 6, State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim M. Yahya said the 16th legislative assembly would be automatically dissolved on Nov 11, unless it is dissolved earlier.

He said the assembly's five-year term is calculated from the date of the first sitting — Nov 12, 2020 — which would make Nov 11 this year the automatic end of the term.
