Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has defended Jesse Lingard following his error that led Tuesday’s defeat against Young Boys.

Lingard’s backpass in the final minute of injury time was intercepted by Theoson Siebatcheu who slotted past David de Gea to give the Swiss side an unlikely win in the opening game of their Champions League group campaign.

United, were had Aaron Wan-Bissaka sent off after 35 minutes, had taken the lead early on through Cristiano Ronaldo but failed to summon a single effort on goal after being reduced to 10 men.
