KUALA LUMPUR: Hartalega Holdings Bhd

aims to build on its earnings momentum, with a focus on key areas such as production efficiency, disciplined cost management and expansion of its footprint to capture new sales opportunities globally.

For its first financial quarter ended June 30, 2026, the glove maker posted a net profit of RM70.03mil, which compared to RM12.61mil in the same quarter of the previous year, on the back of revenue of RM605.75mil, up 10% from the comparative year.

According to the group, the performance was mainly attributed to the higher average selling prices and ongoing cost optimisation initiatives.

These initiatives included stricter cost management, improved production efficiency and lower unit production costs, which helped to offset the impact of lower sales volume and pricing pressure in a highly competitive market.

Performance was further supported by higher investment-related income and significantly lower net foreign exchange losses during the quarter, it said.

Despite the improved performance, Hartalega CEO Kuan Mun Leong akcnowledged the structural overcapacity and intense price competition that continues to impact the glove industry.

"Looking ahead, external market challenges are expected to persist amid geopolitical developments, evolving trade policies and raw material cost movements, which continue to influence the pace of industry recovery.

"We are managing these risks through proactive procurement planning, a diversified supplier base, flexible logistics arrangements and close engagement with suppliers and customers to support supply stability and transparency,” he said.

He added that the group will continue to invest in automation and technology, and foster stronger collaboration in its workforce.
