Initially, Sonni filed for sole custody during divorce proceedings in 2019 — and in her claim, she made allegations that Jeremy had threatened to kill her. She also alleged that he stuck a gun in his mouth and fired the gun into the ceiling.

At the time, Jeremy's lawyer provided a statement to People claiming that Sonni's allegations were "one-sided." “The well-being of his daughter Ava has always been and continues to be the primary focus for Jeremy,” they said. “This is a matter for the court to decide. It’s important to note the dramatizations made in Sonni’s declaration are a one-sided account made with a specific goal in mind.”

In a new interview with The Guardian, Jeremy addressed the allegations for the first time — and, somewhat surprisingly, it seems like he brought them up himself in the conversation.

"Whatever stress I've had in life I've tried to find a way of laughing through it," he initially said in the interview. "And that's where sometimes cynicism comes out — you think, 'I'm just going to have a laugh at this stuff.'"

After the interviewer asked him which "stuff" he was referring to, Jeremy replied, "Being accused of things you've not done, right? That doesn't feel good to anybody. It certainly doesn't feel good when you're a celebrity and it's known to everybody."

The interviewer then asked Jeremy if he was referring to Sonni's allegations, and he replied, "Yeah, yeah." After being pressed as to if there was any "truth to them," Jeremy said, “No, and they happen all the time. It’s all the salaciousness that happens out there. It’s clickbait, and it hurts my feelings and it dehumanizes people.”

Later in the interview, the writer asked Jeremy how he felt when the allegations first came to light. “It doesn’t matter to me what people say,” he replied. “They’re saying it for their own reasons and not for the right reasons or the truth. And I’m used to that, because I’m a public figure. I don’t read people’s reviews, I don’t read people’s comments. I don’t care. That’s not part of my life.”

Jeremy also claimed that getting joint custody of Ava was "easy," and that he and Sonni now "get along very well." "We’re in each other’s lives. It’s lovely," he said, claiming that Sonni sends him "beautiful pictures" of her new baby. When the interviewer said that he hadn't previously heard the two were still in contact, Jeremy replied, “Well, that’s because it’s no one’s business. It’s no one’s business.”
