A theater season defined by thrilling dramas, splashy musicals and even a last-minute controversy came to a close Sunday with the 2025 Tony Awards, Broadway’s biggest night.

This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Cynthia Erivo, a Tony winner for “The Color Purple” who defied gravity on the big screen as Elphaba in the film adaptation of “Wicked” last year. She won’t be the only Hollywood A-lister in attendance, though, with George Clooney, Kieran Culkin, Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal, Sarah Snook and Denzel Washington among those showcasing their talents on the New York stage this year.
