PETALING JAYA: A Kuala Lumpur High Court has upheld the decision of a magistrates’ court to acquit and discharge singer Jason Lo on the charge of self-administration of drugs.

According to Bernama, Justice Noorin Badaruddin rejected the prosecution’s appeal against the magistrate’s decision last year.

“The prosecution’s appeal is therefore dismissed and the decision by the magistrates’ court to free the respondent is maintained,” said Noorin.

Deputy public prosecutor Nik Fadli Nik Azlan appeared for the prosecution while Lo was represented by lawyer Hariharan Tara Singh.

On June 24 last year, magistrate Fared Abdul Latif freed Lo after finding that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against the singer at the end of its case.

When met by reporters, Lo said he was grateful for today’s decision and thanked his lawyer.

“I believe in the judicial system in this country and appreciate the services of my lawyer who has worked hard to help me in this case,” he added.
