Hollyoakshas shed some light on Holby Citystar David Ames' character, who willmake his debut in the coming weeks.
It was confirmed on This Morning that David, best known for playing Dominic Copeland in Holby, will join the cast of the Channel 4 soap.
The 39-year-old will portray Carter Shepherd, Hollyoaks High's new head teacher, who arrives in the eponymous village to take over at the school following Nancy Osborne's (Jessica Fox) departure.
Nancy had been given the job in the wake of Sally St Claire's (Annie Wallace) shock sacking, but she wasforced to make a swift trip to America after finding out that baby Morgan had a heart condition and needed surgery.
'I am incredibly excited to join the Hollyoaks cast as such an intricately layered character with a very poignant and vital storyline to come,' said David, upon news of his casting.
Carter's purpose in coming to the village isn't just professional, however, with Hollyoaks confirming the return of Freya Calder (Ellie Henry), who has now been revealed to be the head teacher's daughter.
Freya, as viewers will recall, was also the daughter of detective Lexi Calder (Natalie Anderson), who was murdered by Silas Blissett (Jef Rawle) in September, becoming the killer's final victim.
Prior to her death, Lexi had been looking after Freya, who suffered life-changing injuries in a school bus crash last year when John Paul McQueen (James Sutton), who was driving the vehicle, was battling with his addiction to alcohol.
