SINGAPORE - A SBS Transit bus driver died after his vehicle was involved in an accident in Kaki Bukit late on Nov 21.
The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were alerted to an accident at about 11pm at the junction of Kaki Bukit Avenue 2 and Kaki Bukit Road 1.
The 58-year-old man was unconscious when taken to Changi General Hospital (CGH), where he died, the police added. Five male passengers - aged between 26 and 38 - were also injured and taken to CGH.
The bus is believed to have skidded, the police said.
It was plying the Service 137 route when the accident happened, said SBS Transit spokesperson Grace Wu, in response to queries.
She added that the deceased employee was a “very good and helpful” bus driver, and the company is providing his family support and assistance now.
Mrs Wu also said that the company’s representatives had visited the five passengers in hospital and remain in contact with them.
A photograph of the accident’s aftermath posted online shows the front of the bus apparently smashed against a tree.
Police investigations are ongoing.

sure one… so many F1 bus drivers… told u to outsource plain clothes to catch all these irresponsible drivers, then demerit them on their performance bonus good drivers then reward them if u get internal inspectors to check on them, useless, all cover up same as the taxi company, using their standard template to answer feedback as always 😎

These bus drivers speed a lot these days so we shouldn’t be surprised. Moreover with such rainy weather we would expect them to be extra careful. RIP.. 🙏
