How Jessie James Decker Helped Jana Kramer Navigate Online Hate

Jana Kramer and Jessie James Decker always support each other—and they can even do it in heels.

In fact, the One Tree Hillalum explained how the country singer, who is collaborating with her on the new song "Do It In Heels," is “one of my most helpful people” when it comes to dealing with “hate pages” and online critics that aim to dim her light.

“Jessie is the best person to come to in those moments,” Jana exclusively told E! News’ Francesca Amikerin a joint interview with Jessie. “She's like, ‘Who cares what they think? They don't know this, that or the other.’”

And Jana said her husband Allan Russell—with whom she shares son Roman, 2—agrees with Jessie, adding, “My husband always goes back to, ‘What's in the four walls is what's most important. People know the truth within the four walls. Always focus on that.’”

For Jessie—who shares kids Vivianne, 11, Eric Jr., 9, Forrest, 7, and Denver, 16 months, with husband Eric Decker—she admitted that she used to engage with the haters “back in the day,” but has developed a new mindset since then.

“When I say this, I mean it: I just don't care anymore at all what anyone thinks,” she explained. “It's a virtual world. It's not real. It doesn't exist.”

She continued, “I don't look at it, I don't read it, and I just don't care. And that's the attitude you have to have.”

While the duo are there to be each other’s confidants, it’s not the only area of their lives in which they are happy to cross paths. Indeed, Jana and Jessie are duet partners on the track “Do It In Heels,” out June 27, marking the first time they have recorded a song together in their 12-year friendship.

“When I was writing the song a couple years ago, I wanted a really fun, up-tempo girl song and I just kept hearing her voice on it,” Jana shared with E!. “I just love the message behind it and she's the perfect girl to have on it.”

And Jessie immediately fell in love with the empowering hit.

“I would come back to it and play it over and over again,” she said. “I'd be like, ‘I can't wait to do this song.’ I really, really loved it, and I just felt like it was so catchy. I love the message. I just thought it was perfect.”

As for how Jana hopes women engage with the summer tune? She wants them to rock out.

“I wanted it to be a song that people roll down their windows to and sing it out loud with their girlfriends,” she explained, “whether you're a mama or a single lady putting on lipstick and going out looking beautiful.”

“We all have so much weight that we carry,” she continued, “I sometimes forget to have fun. Especially as moms, but let's go out there and have some fun and look great doing it in heels.”
