Pedro Pascal is in full dad mode on The Last of Us.

In fact, the May 18 episode of the HBO series was jam-packed with flashbacks of his character Joel lovingly taking care of Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey) through the years before ultimately meeting his bloody demise.

While many heartwarming scenes of surrogate fatherhood—including the tear-jerker moment of Joel surprising the teen with a visit to an abandoned science museum—were featured in the original video game which the post-apocalyptic drama was based on, showrunners did change one plot point that altered the course of the duo's relationship.
