Over a year and a half aftertheir separation, Deborra-Lee Furness filed for divorce from her ex-husband, Hugh Jackman, on May 23. And while the move is far from a surprise given Jackman’s relationshipwith Music Man co-star Sutton Foster, the timing of Furness’s filing intrigued fans.

But, according to Australian outlet New Idea, it might all have to do with Jackman and Foster’s latest milestone. Per the outlet, Foster is currently moving into the NYC penthouse Jackman and Furness once shared, and it’s hitting her especially hard.

The insider said that Furness is “shattered” that they’re living together because she “poured her heart into” the apartment before she moved out.

“This was their ultimate family dream home, and a space that was meant to reboot their marriage,” the source revealed. “A year later, they would be filing for divorce.”

“It’s almost unreal seeing Sutton reap the rewards of all those years of her supporting Hugh,” another source told the outlet. “She thought Hugh would be more subtle, but this feels like a betrayal of their 27 years.”

All things considered, Jackman and Foster have not exactly been subtle since their relationship went public. Shortly after their relationship hit the headlines, they were spotted on a night out for dinner in Santa Monica, Calif., on Monday, Jan. 6, per People. And, most recently, Foster and Jackman have been pictured moving Foster’s belongings into his apartment in Chelsea.

Together with these sources, Furness herself issued a statement about their divorce to the Daily Mail on May 27.

“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” she said in the message. “It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.” “This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage,” she continued. “I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose.”

Furness and Jackman were married from 1996 until their separation in 2023. Furness and Jackman share a 24-year-old son, Oscar, and a 19-year-old daughter, Ava. Jackman and Foster have reportedly been an item since 2022.
