During secondary school in Sudan, a family friend ended up detained, tortured and killed by the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) from a nail being inserted into his skull.

His crime? He was a doctor in the Sudan Doctors Union and leading a protest against the regime at the time, simply for the rights of medical staff and patients. As soon as I heard about this, I was alarmed.
