Singaporeans are spoiled for choice when it comes to streaming services, there are over 15 platforms available, with some offering very specific content. The familiar names like Netflix and Disney+ are just the beginning. Netflix features everything from Hollywood blockbusters to local shows, while Disney+ is a go-to for fans of Marvel, Star Wars, and nostalgic Disney animations. Apple TV+ is known for originals like Severance, and Amazon Prime Video caters to a broader crowd with shows like The Grand Tour and added perks like free delivery and games.
For viewers with niche tastes, there’s something for everyone. HBO Go (now called Max) is the place for iconic HBO originals and Cartoon Network shows. K-drama fans flock to Viu, while local content lovers would prefer meWATCH, which has evolved from Toggle and features Singapore-made programmes. meWATCH even offers add-ons like anime, movies, and early access to dramas. Meanwhile, telcos like Singtel and StarHub provide their own streaming options, although M1’s Eazie TV has already shut down.
There’s also a growing list of specialised platforms. Crunchyroll is heaven for anime fans, while hayu is perfect for reality TV lovers. iQiyi offers a wide variety of Asian content, and TVBAnywhere+ is ideal for those who enjoy Hong Kong dramas in their original Cantonese. For more artsy content, MUBI features indie films and documentaries, and iwonder focuses purely on documentaries across multiple genres. And of course, YouTube, though untraditional, is now a major streaming platform, especially with more viewers watching it on their TVs.
One thing to note is that pricing across all these platforms ranges from about $6 to $20 a month and changes often. Some new platforms like Paramount Plus are expected to enter Singapore once licensing issues are resolved.
