Former Mediacorp actor Ian Fang, 35, reported to the State Courts at 11.40am today (Jun 16) to begin serving his 40-month jail sentence. Last month, the China-born actor was convicted of sexual offences with a then 15-year-old girl.

Before entering the courthouse, Ian, who was accompanied by his mother, bowed twice before reporters to express his apology and said that he is prepared to take full responsibility for his actions.

When asked if he had anything to say to the girl, he replied solemnly: "I’m sorry if anyone has been hurt by all of this.

“From the time of sentencing until now, I haven’t said much or shared my own thoughts. But I believe that when you do something wrong, you must face the consequences. So now, I’m focusing on adjusting my mindset and emotions so that I can accept the punishment I deserve.”

He added that his mum, who was by his side throughout this period, has been through a lot and he feels very apologetic to her.

“I also hope to be given a chance to start over — to be reborn in a sense — and when I am released, I will continue to fulfill my duty as a filial son."

Ian had reportedly engaged in sexual activities with the girl on six occasions in June 2024, with the acts having occurred at various locations including a hotel, hospital, and his home.

The parents of the girl said that his prison sentence isfar too lenient and questioned why he wasn't did not receive caning.

They also intend to sue Ian for the harm he caused their daughter.
