As a Deputy Editorial Director for BuzzFeed’s shopping team, I love to get into the weeds of why a product’s worth the money by deep diving into customer reviews, and product-testing as much as possible.

You're supposed to use your stuff. But perhaps you take the "drive it like you stole it" approach to everything you own (honestly, same). That doesn't mean that you have to hold a funeral for that leather purse that's been your longest relationship, or just resign to the fact that you'll have to just be patient for the water to drain in your kitchen sink. I found all kinds of little fixes for some damage you've likely inflicted on your belongings that deserve a second chance. (Even third or fourth chance!)

1. A foaming garbage disposal cleaner to throw in your sink (the whole packet!), turn on the water, and watch fizz up as it does the tough work below on all the gunk that OTHER PEOPLE have let build up in your disposal. Here's to water draining at the speed it should.

Amazon

Promising review: "Saw on TikTok (don’t judge) and automatically added to cart. So easy to use, takes probably a minute to fully bubble up and clean, and you’re left with a clean sink! I use with other drain cleaning products, but would 100% recommend for weekly maintenance." —Jessica Hamilton

Get a four-pack from Amazon for $3.62.

2. Or an impressive foaming drain cleaner you can use around the house and will feel the urge to post to the socials — even if it pulls out some truly disgusting filth that you'd otherwise not wanna advertise to the universe. You can use it on sink, tub, *and* floor drains... and might just have you seeking out filth like John Waters.

Amazon, www.amazon.com

Check out a TikTok of the foaming pink drain cleaner in action.

Promising review: "Wow! I don't think I've ever been more excited to use a cleaning product before. Who knew you could get so much satisfaction from a drain cleaner. I could probably make an ASMR video and post it, as it is that satisfying! Even though I had to angle this over my sink drain, to avoid the low faucet, it worked perfectly. The foam went down the drain and up through the overflow, bringing lots of black, yucky gunk with it. I have used lots of drain cleaners before, but not one that actually came up through the overflow. I'd never even considered what stuff was in there. It did a great job of cleaning everything out and it left the sink smelling fresh and clean as well." —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $25.98.

3. A tempered glass phone screen protector that has saved my phone time and time again from my butter hands. It's so good (and you get three for under $10!) that I've been buying from this brand consistently since ~2017. Plus, it takes just a few minutes to stick onto your screen. If you buy anything from this story, buy this. IMO, they work just as well as the ones they put on your phone at the Apple store. So once that one has bit the dust, this is an easy swap.

www.amazon.com

It comes with everything you need to install the screen, including cleaning wipes and dust-removing stickers. And when the protector catches your phone's fall and cracks (as seen above), it does a good job of staying put until you need to remove it. This is one of the first things I started buying consistently after joining the BuzzFeed Shopping team thanks to compelling Amazon reviews, and I swear by it now.

Promising review: "Today my daughter SLAMMED my truck door shut and it bounced back open. She looked down, and her phone was what stopped it from closing. She picked it up, and the bottom corner was shattered. We took the screen protector off, and her screen was perfectly fine. To say I’m SHOCKED that the phone was still in one piece would be an understatement. 1000% recommend!!!" —Debra J

www.amazon.com

Promising review: "I went in skeptical, I'm not going to lie. We had grease spilled on our brand-new paver patio. The grease had been sitting for a few weeks, and I saw an ad for this stuff. I ordered it to try because why not? Well, I'll be damned because this took the spots right off! No evidence we ever spilled anything! I'd buy it again." —Susan

www.amazon.com, www.amazon.com

It can be used on leather shoes, accessories, interiors, furniture, upholstery, saddles, jackets, and tack.

Promising review: "I use this for my everyday boots as well as my dress shoes. I'm not always gentle with my boots and I thought I had ruined them the other day (worn out color, scuffs all over), but I cleaned the muck off, gave them a brushing, then applied this leather honey, and after letting it sit, my boots look almost like the day I bought them! It keeps the leather supple and restores color. You only need to use a small amount per use!" —David Horning

It quickly removed that stain and I continued to use the spray on a stain I got from my black jeans. Like magic, the stain was gone, and my bag has been restored! Would definitely recommend!" —Sarah P.

Note: Furniture Clinic (the maker of this product) recommends testing to see if your leather is absorbent before using this product by seeing if a drop of water will soak into the undamaged part of the leather. If the water is able to soak in, use this balm! If it cannot soak in, they recommend using their leather repair paint instead.

Promising review: "The sofa in the pictures [above] is 10 years old and well used. My wife and I could not believe the results after using the balm. Really got rid of the cracks. Amazing stuff. Highly recommend it. The two pictures are before and after using the product on one arm of the sofa. Match the color, and it is magic!" —Loyal Amazon Customer

My crazy dogs hate the rain and they have one spot that they always go on when they decide they are not going outside. I have cleaned the spot probably 100 times. I cleaned this area one time with this cleaner and my spot steam cleaner and it is completely gone! The stain and smell are 100% gone, not just covered up like before, completely and absolutely gone. Miracle cleaner for sure!" —PLLane

40. A four-way cleaning brush will make big moves on those black suede (or nubuck!) boots you decided to shuffle around in the dirt while wearing last weekend. Their days are no longer numbered.

Shacke is a small biz.

It has four sides: one to clean heavier scuff marks and stains, one to gently clean fine suede and light scuff marks, one to clean rounded corners, and one to clean hard-to-reach crevices and grooves.

Promising review: "I was really sad when I thought my bucks were at the end of their road, because I had always heard that suede couldn't be cleaned. With this brush and a little elbow grease my bucks are looking great again! I didn't use any water or cleaner, I just kept wiping the brush off on my jeans to keep the brush clean, then hit the shoe again with a clean surface. It even brightened the leather up a bit." —Roberto

41. A wineglass-washing dishwasher attachment in case your dishwasher isn't equipped with a way to keep a wineglass upright and in place OR you broke off that said bit. (Whoops.) After all, hand-washing stuff you don't absolutely have to is pretty annoying.

Wine Wash Co. is a woman-owned small biz that specializes in dishwasher attachments.

Promising review: "I had a hard time finding wineglass holders for my dishwasher. My previous dishwasher had built-in holders, but my current dishwasher does not. I got tired of having wineglasses break during dishwashing cycles. These holders are sturdy and fit the bill for standard glasses. They can fold up when not in use. I would not use them for expensive Waterford crystal wineglasses, but they are perfect for everyday glasses. A must-have for wine drinkers!" —Alicia

42. A pair of ceiling fan charms to help you suss out which pull is which when you're desperate for a ceiling-fan breeze. But will be even better if your pulls broke off in a time of desperation when you entered your bedroom and needed a breeze STAT. They also add a bit of length that makes them easier to reach!

Promising review: "This is the definition of 'product you didn't know you needed because you didn't know it existed.' I was FOREVER pulling the wrong chain on our bedroom ceiling fan. (Want the light off? Oh no...now the fan's on high. Need to change the fan speed? Eek...now you're in the dark.) They're much better quality than I expected. They're actually quite heavy-duty pull chains, and they add a bit of fun to the decor." —LHD

43. A red wine stain remover you should keep on hand because, well, accidents happen! But you can be prepared for (at least some of) them!
