If You’re Struggling To Keep Your House Clean, Keep These 36 Products On Hand
Promising review: "I was a bit skeptical about a simple wet it and forget it cleaner but no more. When I used this for the first time, I did have to do a bit of scrubbing since we had some soap buildup on the shower walls. I was glad to see that I had to do just a light scrubbing since this product worked well in working on the soap buildup. It’s just a simple, spray it on, let it work and then rinse it off. The trigger spray is easy to use and has two different spray settings, one more centralized and the other a wider spray. The scent is not overpowering, and it does what it says. So easy to use, and my boys have no problem rinsing it down for me before they shower. Glad to add this to our cleaning products." —Susan E.

Promising review: "Wow! This stuff is great. My sprinklers are on well water (which has a ton of minerals in it). When the sprinklers are on and the wind blows, I end up with hard water spots on my house windows....the spots will not come off with any regular window cleaner. I bought this stuff hoping it would clean the hard water spots off my windows, and it did not disappoint. I just put a dollop on a wet paper towel, rubbed the window, and with very little effort, I could feel the spots dissolving as I wiped in circular motions. This stuff smells great, too! Highly recommend for water spots on glass!" —SoCalShopper

Despite removing a sheet of lint from the trapper after every use, my dryer slowly started to dry clothes less and less efficiently. I figured there were probably a couple of clusters of lint stuck in the vent, and boy howdy was I right. This brush immediately pulled out a copious amount of lint — I was shocked. And it kept coming! The first couple of tries yielded so much lint, and then I went to work fitting it into the nooks and crannies of the vent. And it just kept coming. SO MUCH LINT. By the time I was done, I had a huge pile at my feet, and I could already tell my clothes were going to dry so much faster. And guess what? They did! Now I use this every six months or so for maintenance, and it's honestly impressive how much buildup it pulls out, and easily! Other perk: it's incredibly satisfying to use.
Promising review: "Works perfectly for scrubbing the stuck lint out of the insides of your dryer. Everyone who owns a dryer should have these, they're basic safety equipment. Clean that lint, and reduce fire hazard, and make the machine more efficient. They're long enough, strong enough, and just flexible enough without being too flexible." —Winged Wolf

This foam is a cleaner that helps eliminate bad smells, but it's best to call a plumber if your garbage disposal is clogged.
Promising review: "It seems counterintuitive to put a little packet down your garbage disposal to clean it, but this does actually seem to work, at least for getting out weird smells that baking soda and vinegar don't really touch. I scrub the sink down first, especially around the garbage disposal area, rinse it down, and then just follow the directions on the package. I have used it with single, large-size sinks and with double sinks — the only difference is that the double sink will have blue cleaning foam rise up the drain, which you rinse away when the disposal sounds clear again. I have tried the foaming cleaner in a can, but unfortunately, it stopped coming out of the can about 10% of the way through. Went back to this tried-and-true." —KS

Promising review: "I have the nose of a truffle pig and can smell the slightest tinge of something in the air, so when my dishwasher starts to smell, I am the first and usually the only one in the family to notice it right away. I have tried all the usual brands to get the hard water stains and gross food smelled out. Even rinse my dishes super well. None of them work like this stuff does! I was weary at first about buying it because it was so cheap. A year's worth of cleaning tabs!! Forget Finish, Cascade, the other stuff. This stuff really works! Keeps dishwasher free from hard water marks and my dishes come out crystal clear after." —Courtney E. Delong

Check out a TikTok of the foaming pink drain cleaner in action.
Promising review: "Wow! I don't think I've ever been more excited to use a cleaning product before. Who knew you could get so much satisfaction from a drain cleaner? I could probably make an ASMR video and post it, as it is that satisfying! Even though I had to angle this over my sink drain to avoid the low faucet, it worked perfectly. The foam went down the drain and up through the overflow, bringing lots of black, yucky gunk with it. I have used lots of drain cleaners before, but not one that actually came up through the overflow. I'd never even considered what stuff was in there. It did a great job of cleaning everything out, and it left the sink smelling fresh and clean as well." —Amazon Customer

Natalie Brown / BuzzFeed
BuzzFeed shopping editor Natalie Brown put this baby to the test, and here's what she had to say: "This thing works small miracles: I cleaned about half of my bathroom's grout to its original sparkling-clean cream color in 40 minutes, and it took honestly no effort at all. I literally sat on the floor, dipped the bristles in a Castile soap dilution (2–3 drops of soap + 1/2 cup of water; but you could use almost any cleaner of your choice), then lazily ran the scrubber back and forth over a 6-inch section of grimy, dark-gray grout — and it only took about 30 seconds for that grout to go from dingy to bright. I started by using the specialty grout brush, but then I decided to try it with the default brush and that seemed to work just as well, IMHO!" Check out her full power scrubber review.

Promising review: "Literally got rid of black mold stains on tile overnight. This couldn't be done with regular bleach (I tried). The stain was gone, and it was back to its normal color. And it kept mold away. Usually, when I clean it, it would come back so soon. Smells strong, but obviously, it's what's needed to kill the mold. Works like a charm. No scrub either, just have to rinse off the next day. Super quick results." —SL

When I say this is the most used cleaning tool in my house I mean it. We have two small children, and one's a toddler who's still learning how to feed himself. Meals get MESSY. Several times a day we need to clean around our dining table, and this is our go-to tool for sweeping up all the crumbs and other grossness that ends up on the floor. The teeth on the dustpan mean the broom bristles stay super clean, which means even the smallest piece of dirt (a good example is hair) still gets picked up and pushed into the dustpan. I LOVE this set!

Promising review: "Our screens are on a second-floor balcony. There really isn't any good way to clean the outside of the screens. Luckily, the fibers on this screen cleaner are small enough that they seem to fit through the screen and clean both sides. I'm sure it doesn't clean the outside as well as it does the inside, but any help is always appreciated. I was actually shocked at how much dirt came off of the screens with this very simple tool. I used it wet with a small amount of dish soap, and it worked really well. I also appreciated that after I was finished I was just easily able to rinse and dry the screen cleaner for future use. A simple tool at an excellent price." —BonjourBeautyByAmy

Therapy Clean is a family-owned small business based in New Hampshire that makes plant-based cleaning products for the home.
My former colleague Brittany Ross says, "I don't know what kind of fairy dust this plant-based spray is hiding inside, but it made my mucked-up fridge sparkle within a MINUTE! I was skeptical when I first sprayed it onto my fridge because it took a second for the streaks to start fading, but lo and behold, there was *zero* residue left behind after a super brief wipe sesh. Once I saw how downright dazzling my fridge looked, I decided to put it to the ~real~ test — my filthy dishwasher. Again, a minute of buffing with a microfiber towel was enough to make it look like a brand new appliance, and it worked wonders on the greasy stainless steel edges of my oven, too."
Promising review: "This is a miracle worker on stainless. I have tried everything to get my stainless to shine like it should, even the home remedies, which do NOT work — sorry but they don't. I had a cleaning crew come out to clean the house, and they worked for hours in the bathroom, and still couldn't get that glass clear. I thought I was just going to have to live with it...until I remembered I bought the pink paste! I completely forgot I had it in my utility closet. I began using it, and I couldn't believe it. Promising review: "Shocking! I got this at the request of a friend who was helping with cleaning. They weren't expensive, so I decided to get them. I thought they were kind of silly, I use toothbrushes if I need a small cleaning brush. No more toothbrushes for cleaning for me! These really do let you get into cracks and corners, and the bristles are stiff enough to get packed-in dirt out. And the silly squeegee on the end? Awesome. I rent, and have places in my apartment I've never been able to get clean. With these brushes and the squeegee tip, I think the apartment is finally clean of old tenants' dirt." —Laura Gail

Promising review: "Great mop when you need the job done fast. Liquid refills are easy to pop in, and you can slap on replacement mop pads in a hurry (you'll know when they need to be replaced). This mop is ideal when you get one of those 'I'll see you in 10 minutes' phone calls. Just press the release button on the handle, and a spray will shoot out at the center of the path. Tip: I run the mop head under warm water first and squeeze it out before I start, as a damp mop works better. The floor is clean in no time and I like that I don't need to store a separate bottle of cleaner. My mom loves that it's lightweight, so she can carry it upstairs and mop the hall floors and bathroom tiles. Gladly recommend." —A. Mitchell

Drill Brush is a small business based in New York State that makes cleaning brushes that attach to drills. It was started in 2007 by a former electrician who suffered from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and needed a way to clean without causing him harm.
Promising review: "These brushes worked flawlessly. I have a 24-year-old home that has not been remodeled yet. The master bath shower tile and fiberglass shower pan were in pretty bad shape. We tried many types of cleaners to remove residual soap and hard water stains with little success. As a last-ditch effort, I purchased these brushes. They worked amazingly well. Using Krud Kutter and these brushes removed every bit of the dirt and polished those tiles so that they shine brilliantly like they did when they were new. I am completely satisfied with my purchase of these brushes. They are well made and held up beautifully to the forces I applied while using them." —Tom S4TX

Promising review: "I love this product!! It works fantastically! I am a housekeeper for several private homes. My least favorite job is cleaning window blinds! I have used every method there, but the job is still very time-consuming. The main reason it takes so long is that you must clean each and every slat separately to do the job right. Not anymore! With this product, you can clean two slats at once, and it cleans them with the first swipe! The microfiber is the key to getting all the dust, and the design of the product makes it super easy! PLUS, this tool can be used on different types of blinds because it is flexible! I have used it on wooden shutters, plastic vertical patio door blinds, and horizontal metal 'mini' blinds. Additionally, the microfiber 'sleeve' that fits on the tool is washable, and it comes with five of them, so it's a real value. Being reusable and with so many to use it should last a long time before they all completely wear out! This product deserves 10 stars!" —Sandy D

Promising review: "Ashamed to say, but I barely ever mop the floors. I purchased this O-Cedar Mop and Bucket based on the great reviews. I am here to add a 5-star review of my own. This mop and bucket not only cleaned my floors, but it made the entire process easy (and dare I say fun?). I did the entire first floor of my house, both tile and wood. Then wanted more fun, so I scooped up the handy handle and carried it upstairs, where I continued on to the bedrooms and bathrooms. I don't want to go on and on, but this mop picked up lots of dirt and grime and then popped easily into the washing machine. It came out great. The swirly thing makes all the difference. It wrings out all of the excess water, so it's easy to mop without using too much muscle, which I do not have. And the mop heads are short, rather than long mop heads, which only make for heavier mops. If you're on the fence, go for it, you'll agree." —LauraP320

I was tempted to initiate a return on Amazon but decided that I might as well gamble on a piece of $9 plastic before gambling $200 on a plumber. I slipped the plastic strip down my shower drain and literally FIVE SECONDS LATER I was pulling up gobs and gobs and gobs of hair. HOLY COW!!!!!!!! OHMYGOSH. We have a deep stainless-steel sink that I love, except for the cleaning. It never looks clean, so cleaning it isn't exactly rewarding. I mean, I clean it because of germs, pandemic, etc., but I don't like anything about it. I saw this on some BuzzFeed "things you should buy on Amazon" and ordered it. And ignored it. Now, as there's a quarantine, even as an essential worker, I really have no excuse not to clean. Sigh. This robot vacuum and mop can even be controlled by Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri!
My colleague Samar Hadri has this and swears by it: "I love this mop/vacuum combo! I despise chores (as most people do), and as a busy mom of an infant who also works full-time, keeping on top of cleaning is a lot harder than it seems. Between washing and sterilizing bottles, whipping up meals, and tidying up, I literally find I don't have enough hours in the day for vacuuming or mopping. And then I got this baby.
All I have to do is click a single button on the app or activate it via my Google Assistant (I named my robot Squidward, so I can say, "Squidward, start mopping"). The first thing it did was map my home (pictured above), and then it started out the clean cycle. It moped my tile, and once it sensed a rug, it switched to a vacuum, so my precious carpet was spared!
I was amazedddd to see how well it cleaned up my floors! Plus, it totally did not crash into any furniture (and with an infant, trust me, there's a lotttt of furniture and gadgets strewn all over the place)!! It's a bit loud when it's emptying itself out, but otherwise, the actual cleaning portion of it is fairly quiet.
Altogether, Squidward has proven himself to be an absolute time save for me. I highly recommend!"
