Indian hair care startup raises $4m series A

Indian hair care brand Arata has raised US$4 million in a series A funding round led by Unilever Ventures, with participation from L’Oréal’s Bold venture capital fund and Skywalker Family Office.
The company’s valuation now stands at 195 crore rupees (around US$22.9 million) after the funding.
Arata plans to use the funds to improve its R&D in hair and scalp care, expand marketing efforts, and recruit new talent.
Founded in 2018 by Dhruv Madhok and Dhruv Bhasin, Arata offers products for hair growth, dandruff treatment, and styling across all hair types.
Arata sells through its direct-to-consumer website, marketplaces like Nykaa, Flipkart, and Amazon, and quick delivery platforms such as Zepto and Swiggy Instamart.
