SuperK, a retail chain operating in small towns in India, has raised 100 crore rupees (US$12 million) in its series B funding round.
The round was led by 3STATE Ventures, founded by Binny Bansal and Mithun Sancheti, with participation from cricketer Shubman Gill and existing investors Blume Ventures and Xeed Ventures.
The funding will be used to expand into more towns and categories, and to hire for marketing, store operations, and category roles.
SuperK currently operates 130 franchisee-run stores across over 80 towns in Andhra Pradesh.
India’s grocery retail market is valued at about US$600 billion, with small towns accounting for over 80% of the spending.
Founded in 2020 by Anil Thontepu and Neeraj Menta, SuperK uses proprietary technology, including in-house point-of-sale systems and apps, to enhance operations and monitor customer behavior.
SuperK aims to increase its presence to 300 towns across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka in the near future.
