Inside abandoned home of suspected safe cracker with treasures locked away
The home of a suspected safe cracker, complete with some still unopened, now lays abandoned.
Images from inside the home show an amazing collection of safes, alongside an odd array of mannequin heads, a bunny costume poking through a hole and hundreds of tyres. The photos were taken by urban explorer Kyle Urbex, of the property on Gelderd Road in Leeds.
Once a family home dating back to 1960 it was a work space for scrap metal dealer who ran his business from the site, which was operational until 2018 when the owner died of stomach cancer. The site was briefly occupied by a woman between 2018 and 2020, until she put it up for sale and it has been vacant ever since.
Kyle said: "A former family home and business, the house dates back to the 1960's when it was first occupied by scrap metal dealer. He operated his small scrap metal business from the site, the company was a scrap metal merchants dealing in the large distribution of used metal.

The site was operational until his passing in 2018 from stomach cancer which left the site vacant. At some time between 2018 and 2020 a woman lived at the address afterwards listing the site for sale.

"There are no plans for the future of the site and it sits dilapidated. After having this on my radar for a few years and not sure exactly what was happening with it I finally decided to check it out. The main house was as I fully expected stripped beyond any sort of past life but the garage was full of quirky bits including odd mannequin heads.
"The garage was certainly the best part of this explore and it was a cool one to tick off my list again in my hometown."
