Ipoh Town Kopitiam in Jewel has hearty nasi ayam goreng, “overflowing” kopi alongside Choy Kee Bakery’s famed egg tarts & more
It seems like we’re going back to our roots as we have been faced with a rising amount of retro-style kopitiam concepts like Great Nanyang and Killiney Kopitiam — not to mention JB’s Oriental Kopi that most Singaporeans have been crossing the border for.
Well, if you’re seeking out somewhere to satisfy your cravings, this place might do the trick.

Ipoh Town Kopitiam has officially made its debut in Singapore with its first outlet being in Jewel Changi — now, you can have a taste of Ipoh delicacies without actually travelling.
This place would be perfect for those who are missing the familiar taste of Asian flavours, especially after touching down from a long red eye flight.

Savour the traditional flavours and taste of nostalgia with the Nasi Ayam Goreng Berempah (S$11.90) boasting coconut rice, fried and succulent chicken thigh seasoned in a harmonious blend of local spices. Pair it with the spicy belacan chilli for that added fiery oomph.
If you have any Malaysian pals who are feeling a little homesick, the “homely” and comforting flavours from this dish might just lift their spirit.

But, if you find yourself visiting during lunch, you might wanna consider getting the Fragrant Curry Toast with Soft Boiled Egg (S$4.90). The combination of the spicy curry paired alongside the softness of the boiled eggs warms your stomach right up. My mouth is already watering just thinking about this dish.

Spice it up with the hearty Ipoh Curry Hor Prawn Hor Fun (S$12.90) which sees flat rice noodles bathed in a thick and aromatic curry using fragrant spices.
It’s definitely a dish that’s uniquely Malaysian, but nonetheless, it still packs a flavourful punch which may just be what you need for dinner.
Those who aren’t in a rice or noodles kinda mood, why not fill yourself up with light snacks like the fried or steamed dimsum? This includes the likes of Siew Mai (S$6.90), Fried Char Siew Bao (S$6.90 for three pieces), and Kaya Puff (S$2.40).

That’s not the only thing that you can look forward to. Choy Kee Bakery — a renowned brand in Ipoh — will also be making its first venture in Singapore as well.
They will be offering their famous Egg Tarts (S$2.40) featuring smooth egg custard encased in an irresistible flaky pastry crust.
Hopefully, you don’t have to wait in line for hours just to have a taste of it (fingers crossed).

Of course, you can’t miss out on the “Overjoy” White Coffee (S$4.90 for ice) and (S$3.50 for hot) that is definitely a must-order.
For those who are unfamiliar with it, you may have seen the iconic “overflowing” coffee look all over your FYP. The aromatic coffee beans married with the creamy condensed milk sounds like a treat, no?
So, the next time you’re bringing your entire kampung down and looking to impress your fellow aunties or uncles, you know where to go.
Are you in the mood for old-school kopitiam fare?
