Irrfan Khan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar has shared a heartbreaking tribute to her partner, on the first anniversary of his death.

The Slumdog Millionaire star died on April 29 last year following a battle with a colon infection aged 53.

Sharing tributes to social media overnight, both Khan’s wife and son, Babil, penned beautiful messages, with Sutapa opening up on the final moments of Khan’s life.

The writer shared on Facebook: ‘The nurses were looking at us strangely as they were used to religious chants in critical times but I had overdone that for you Irrfan – morning, evening, and night – for two years, and since they told me it was time, I wanted you to go with memories you loved.

‘So we sang songs.’

Sharing the star died at a ‘mystical’ time, she went on: ‘The clock had stopped at 11.11 on 29 April for me .…Irrfan you had a keen interest in the mystery of numbers, and funny you had three 11’s on your final day. Some say actually many say this is a very mystical number 11/11/11.’

Sutapa added she was hesitant to change her name, as she dealt with all the upheaval in her life.
