JDT hire Brazilian Jairo to add roar in team

PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) have added more firepower to their frontline, unveiling Brazilian forward Jairo Da Silva as their latest foreign signing, a move that could form a fearsome partnership with their prolific hitman Bergson Da Silva.
The 33-year-old arrives from top-flight club Pafos FC, Cyprus, bringing with him a wealth of European experience and an impressive track record. Jairo featured in 60 matches across all competitions last season, contributing 14 goals and 10 assists .
Jairo was also a regular in continental competition, having featured in both the UEFA Europa League qualifiers and the UEFA Conference League during his time with Pafos, where he had been a key figure since 2021.
Primarily a winger, Jairo offers tactical flexibility and experience, having played in multiple top leagues across Europe.
His career has taken him through Croatia with Hajduk Split (2018–2021), Moldova with Sheriff Tiraspol (2017–2018), Greece with PAOK Thessaloniki and PAS Giannina, and Slovakia with AS Trencin.
Before venturing to Europe, Jairo honed his craft in Brazil from 2010 to 2013 with stints at Madureira, Internacional, and Botafogo.
JDT, known for their ambition and relentless pursuit of excellence, also strengthened their backline with the recent addition of Spanish centreback Antonio Glauder, while Malaysian international midfielder Hector Hevel has confirmed he will be donning the Southern Tigers jersey this season.
