Jackie Chan feels that Hong Kong's red tape makes filming really difficult
27 Aug – Jackie Chan recently revealed that he has no qualms making a Hong Kong film again, that is if there is something new that he can do.
The actor, who arrived in Macau to promote his new movie, "The Shadow's Edge", said that he has already worked on many genres and can't imagine any new ones being filmed in Hong Kong.
"Going abroad gives me a lot of inspiration. I'm not an artsy director like Ann Hui. I don't think about that kind of stuff. I only think about the action. If a director can come up with a good Hong Kong story, I'll definitely go back and film it," he said.
'Police Story 2013' was also filmed in Beijing and not Hong Kong
Jackie also stated that applying for shooting locations in Hong Kong is incredibly difficult.

"I want this building, they won't let me, I want that building, they won't let me. It's really difficult. I go overseas and point to a building, and they immediately say go ahead. I was immediately allowed to film and shoot at the Opera House. I tried to borrow the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre location multiple times, but it was rejected. Only when I met [former Chief Executive of Hong Kong] Tung Chee-hwa and talked to him did they let me go up there first."
On the other hand, when asked about his previous Golden Leopard Award for Lifetime Achievement, Jackie said, "I've been in the industry for 64 years this year. I never imagined that my previous efforts, pain, and perseverance would pay off decades later. If I had just been shooting, I might not be where I am today. People still talk about 'Project A' and 'Rumble in the Bronx,' and I feel like the pain I endured was all worth it. I have to thank my former self."
