Jaguar probably wants to keep the guttural-sounding V8 engine for as long as it can, before all carmakers are required to shift to electric powertrains. The British brand is doing so with the update to its F-Type roadster and coupe range, in which the two-liter engine has been dropped to form a lineup all powered by a five-liter V8.In the US, Jaguar revealed the updated 444hp F-Type 450 and the 575hp F-Type R. The new F-Type 450 can be ordered as a coupe or convertible in P450 RWD, or P450 R-Dynamic AWD trims, starting at US$69,900, Jaguar said. The F-Type 450's supercharged, 444hp V8 has been "developed to offer exploitable, rewarding performance," to net a maximum torque of 580Nm from just 2,500rpm.A standard electronic active differential further optimizes traction. In either configuration, rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), this cat can bolt from zero to 100kph in just 4.4 seconds, with a maximum speed of 284kph.The F-Type R with its 575hp can accelerate from zero to 100kph in 3.5 seconds, and top speed is electronically limited to 300kph.Like the F-Type R, the P450 offers Quiet Start as a standard feature, which ensures a more subtle, refined sound upon startup. The electrically actuated bypass valves in the rear silencer remain closed until they automatically open up under load, releasing the signature roar.Quiet Start can be overridden by selecting Dynamic Mode, or by pressing the switchable exhaust button before starting the engine, if desired. More F-Type P450 goodies include standard Configurable Dynamics, 20-inch wheels, larger brakes (380mm front, 376mm rear), and switchable active exhaust. The design hallmarks introduced in the 2021 model year remain unchanged. The super-slim LED headlights with subtly updated signature "Double J-Blade" daytime running lights blend perfectly into the surfacing of the clamshell hood, which exaggerate "the visual width and accentuating its assertive stance."The rear haunches enhance the inherently dramatic, purposeful form of the F-Type, while the new slender rear lights combine an unmistakable LED chicane signature, with subtle monogram pattern detailing. To this exterior styling, F-Type P450 R-Dynamic AWD adds bespoke badging, a gloss black front splitter, side sills, valance. As for equipment, this roadster variety offers auto-dimming, power-folding, heated door mirrors with memory, and 20-inch Style 6003, split-spoke, gloss dark gray with contrast diamond turned finish wheels. The interior combines "traditional Jaguar craftsmanship" with rich, contemporary materials such as Windsor Leather and chrome.Details include stitch patterns in the seats and door trims, Jaguar Leaper motifs in the headrests, and subtle Jaguar Est.1935 markings on the center console finisher, glovebox release button surround, and seatbelt guides. The F-Type P450 is available in 11 standard exterior colors, and can also be ordered in over a dozen custom paint finishes from Jaguar's Special Vehicles Operations (SVO). All P450 models come standard with the 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display that offers a choice of different display modes, including full map. For a sporty intent, the default mode is characterized by the large central rev counter.Meanwhile, the F-Type R packs torque on-demand AWD with Jaguar Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) control technology.Photos from JaguarAlso read:Jaguar Land Rover PH unveils three electrifying offeringsJaguar approaches E-types 60th with anniversary tribute edition
