If you’ve been following along with Jenna Bush Hager‘s book club over the years, then you know that the Today Show co-host has some great literary taste. After all, from her 74 books recommended to date, 47 of them went on to become New York Times best-sellers.
So, of course, fans of Read With Jenna were excited when Bush Hager announced her new imprint with Random House Publishing Group, called Thousand Voices x RHPG, in January.
“I love books that are propulsive and fun and people can’t put them down,” Bush Hager told New York Times of her taste. “But also are conversation starters.”
“The goal is to develop writers — to find the next Emily Henry, to find the next Sarah Maas — and support them,” Bush Hager said of Thousand Voices x RHPG. “That’s what I’ve been most obsessed with.”
First up on the publishing route is Conform by Ariel Sullivan.
“Centuries after a catastrophic war nearly decimated humanity, society is now ruled by an elusive and technologically advanced group called the Illum, who constantly monitor the population’s health and mandate procreation contracts,” the description reads. “But Emeline’s bleak existence is shattered when, for the first time in decades, an Illum named Collin takes a Mate: Emeline.”
All of a sudden, Emeline is burst into the “dangerous game of the Courting.”
“Soon, she discovers a rebellion rising in secret, and that her Mate may be keeping secrets of his own,” the synopsis continues. “Collin is confusing, both cold and protective, and worse, she finds herself drawn to the very last person she should be falling for: Hal, one of the resistance leaders.”
“As she draws closer to both Collin and Hal, the Illum exercise their power in increasingly brutal ways, forcing Emeline to question everything—most of all whether she’ll have to give up her heart and even her life to stop them,” the description ends.
On Instagram, Bush Hager shared a video in April of her crying when reading Sullivan’s dedication for the first time. “To little me,” the dedication reads. “Who was constantly told to get her head out of the clouds, but made a world in them instead, thank you for never giving in.”
“I can’t handle it,” Bush Hager told Sullivan over FaceTime. “That is the most beautiful dedication. We’re gonna have so much fun. I’m proud of you.”
Conform by Ariel Sullivan hit bookshelves on Oct. 14. We’re already counting down the days!
