Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt‘s wedding was such a well-kept secret that fans are still learning new details about the event 25 years later.

Celebrity photographer Robert Evans spilled the tea about the big day to Yahooin what was considered the “wedding of the century” in 2000. He explained that “the spotlight is enormous — and so are the precautions.” Evans was told he was shooting a “corporate event,” and Aniston and Pitt’s names weren’t even dropped until two days before their wedding — that’s how they kept all of the details quiet until Evans absolutely needed to know what he was actually photographing.

While he was there to capture their “love story,” he also knew that he wasn’t going to be the only photographer in the area. “At Brad and Jen’s wedding, you could see photographers camped out on the hills above the property,” Evans explained.

He had to take extra precautions with the film that he needed to develop after their A-list wedding. (Remember, this was before the digital camera era.) So, he hired security to take him to the photo lab. “It was my first high-profile wedding of that scale, and I wasn’t about to risk those priceless negatives,” he admitted while revealing there was a “million-dollar bounty” on the photos.

Evans isn’t the only person who has shared stories from the former couple’s nuptials; Pitt’s True Romance co-star, Michael Rapaport, discussed the menu on an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in August 2023. “I was at Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s wedding; they had a wall of caviar, I still have some saved over,” he said. “I’m still eating the caviar from that. Billy Preston performed. Lot of bucks there.”

According to Marie Claire, the Malibu wedding cost $1 million and included a dazzling turn of Hollywood’s most famous faces, including Cameron Diaz, Salma Hayek, Edward Norton, David Spade, and the cast of Friends.

The marriage didn’t turn out to be the happily ever after that the dynamic duo anticipated — a love triangle was on the horizon — but it was still a magical day that people talk about 25 years later.
