Jonathan Bailey Reveals Major Role He Played in the Jurassic World: Rebirth Score
Is there anything Jonathan Bailey can’t do?
Along with starring in his latest movie Jurassic World: Rebirth alongside costars Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali, the 37-year-old revealed that he also played a special role in creating the film’s iconic score.
"This really was a highlight of my career,” Jonathan said during a June 25 appearance on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, during which he shared he was given a clarinet solo in Alexandre Desplat’s adaptation of John Williams’ original Jurassic Park theme song. “The nerd in me erupted like Vesuvius.”
Because at first, his musical talents weren’t part of the plan. After all, he was busy starring in Shakespeare’s Richard II in London’s West End.
"I sat with my mate at the top just to watch, and got goosebumps" he said, adding that he and a friend simply planned to pay a visit to Abbey Road Studios to witness the 105-piece world-class orchestra.
"As the week progressed," he continued, "I came back and I was like, 'Can I bring my clarinet?' I played the clarinet in school. And on the Friday, they said, 'Look, you can come.'”
But Jonathan was met with something much greater than sitting in on the magic.
"I just wanted to play one—even if it was one slightly sharp note—would’ve been my dream come true,” he expressed. “And I ended up playing the theme of Dr. Henry Loomis, the character I play, on the clarinet, which is in the score."
As for where the Wicked star’s clarinet journey began? Well, the hobby fell into his lap when he was a young child.
"I got given a plastic clarinet by my granddad, who I think won it in a pub,” he told host Jimmy Fallon with a laugh. “And I started playing then."
And Jonathan admitted that participating in the Jurassic soundtrack was a full circle moment. As he put it, “It was so emotional.”
Along with his talents onstage and in front of a camera, the actor also made quite the impression with his red carpet fashion. During a photo call in London last month, he turned heads while wearing a pair of flip-flops on the red carpet.
“LEAVE MY MAN ALONE,” one fan wrote on social media, defending his controversial fashion choices. “HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS.”
And the following week, the Bridgerton star opted for a pair of Maison Margiela Tabi split-toe loafers, which were described as a pair of “slutty little shoes” at the New York premiere of the film June 23.
“It’s a slutty little everything, isn’t it,” he quipped to E! News, “these days?”
