Josh Duhamel isn’t asking for much this Father’s Day.

In fact, the Las Vegas alum—who shares sons Axl Jack Duhamel, 11, with ex-wife Fergie and Shepherd Lawrence Duhamel, 17 months, with wife Audra Mari—wants nothing more than to spend some quality time with his boys.

“We'll be out at the cabin,” Josh told E! News’ Francesca Amiker in an exclusive interview. “I just hope to be with them all day. That’s the main thing.”

The chance to bond with his kids is especially important for the 52-year-old given his demanding work schedule.

“The hardest part is trying to balance everything, because I’ve got a lot going on professionally,” he explained. “It's really about making sure that I’m reminding myself that that is as important as anything else, if not the most important thing that I do.”

After all, Josh noted that Axl and Shepherd are likely to follow his lead in life.

“You just want to set a good example,” he continued. “It's about the energy you give your kids, it's about the attention, but it's also about the way you conduct yourself, because they watch that. That's what I learned from my dad.”

One way Josh practices what he preaches is through giving back to his community. For instance, he recently partnered with Bobcat to donate much-needed equipment to Los Angeles Fire Department Station 88 in honor of their service during the L.A. wildfires earlier this year.

“I'm so proud and grateful for the work our firefighters do in this town,” he shared. “I think anybody who lives here understands how important they are to this community.”

He also sets that example through his co-parenting relationship with Fergie, whom he split from in 2017 after 8 years of marriage and finalized his divorce from two years later. He’s since described his ex as “an amazing woman” and complimented her warmth towards his new wife, whom he wed in 2022.

“She’s taken Audra in,” he said on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show in September 2023. “And it could be much worse. That's the thing, you never know how these things are gonna go.”

But it certainly helped that Josh was so sure of his future with Audra.

“I knew that she was the one early on,” the Ransom Canyon actor told E! News in 2022. “We're perfect for each other. She's an amazing girl. She keeps me grounded. She keeps it real.”

Axl bonded with his grandfather Jon Patrick Ferguson in July 2020, when Fergie wrote, "Happy 73rd birthday dad!! We love you so much."

"Happy 7th Birthday #AxlJack," the musician wrote in 2020. "You are my world."

Her birthday post to her son also unveiled a sweet snap of him flashing a smile during a boat outing. 

"I am so grateful to be your mommy Axl Jack," the "Big Girls Don't Cry" singer captioned this photo of their Burberry matching moment in May 2023.

"To my buddy boy...you bring my life a lot of joy," Josh wrote on Instagram on Father's Day 2023. "Love you kid."

Fergie marked Axl's 10th birthday in August 2023 with a series of photos of her boy, including this silly shot.

"To my caring, funny, outgoing, loving, smart, talkative, creative super hero enthusiast," she wrote in her birthday tribute. "Happy 10th birthday punky!!! I love you Axl Jack."

Axl became a big brother in January 2024, when Josh welcomed baby boy Shepherd with wife Audra Mari.

As an avid soccer fan, Axl rang in his 11th birthday in 2024 while wearing his favorite jersey.

"It is so fun watching you grow in every phase of your life," Fergie wrote on Insrtagram. "No matter what jersey you’re wearing I’ll always be your biggest cheerleader for anything you want to do in life. I love you beyond word."
