Judd Trump is out of the British Open after a 3-2 defeat to Elliot Slessor and he has also lost the world number one spot in the process.

Trump suffered the surprise defeat to Slessor in the last 32 in Leicester, which means that Mark Selby will usurp him at the top of the rankings at the end of the tournament.

It is a quirk in the rankings this season as the International Championship ranking points from two years ago come off during this event, a tournament Trump won in 2019, so his ranking now suffers.
