The deputy chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Saut Situmorang, has reportedly resigned from the antigraft body after the commission’s new leader was elected by the House of Representatives in the early hours of Friday. News of his resignation emerged after a message believed to have been written by him to KPK employees was disseminated through the WhatsApp messaging service on Friday morning. In a copy of the message obtained by The Jakarta Post, Saut said he would officially resign from the KPK on Sept. 16 as he still had to attend two KPK events over the coming weekend. He also said that he would be taking a day off work on Friday.
