Katy Perry Reacts to Fan Storming the Stage During Sydney Concert
Katy Perry is chained the to the rhythm.
That's why the "Teenage Dream" singer didn't miss a beat when a concertgoer slipped past security and stormed the stage during her Lifetimes World Tour show at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney June 9.
As seen in a video circulating on social media, Katy was in the middle of performing her 2008 smash hit "Hot n Cold" when the fan ran up next to her, putting their arm around her shoulder before jumping up and down. Keeping her cool, the 40-year-old did a quick spin to release herself from the fan's grasp, continuing to sing as bodyguards rushed the stage.
As security grabbed the fan, Katy told the crowd, "There's never going to be another show like this, so just enjoy it."
But this was not the first time an audience interaction at Katy's Lifetimes Tour went viral. In May, she addressed criticism over her performing abilities, telling the audience as she lifted her skirt, "Show them that when they say I can't dance."
Later that month, she playfully accused a fan of shooting their shot with her fiancé Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares 4-year-old daughter Daisy Dove.
"If you keep on DM'ing my man, I'm going to have you removed," she quipped, before launching into her 2024 single "I'm His, He's Mine."
"Seriously, get your own life," Katy continued. "I'm his. Stay the f--k away."
And she knows her sense of humor and quirky personality can sometimes rub people the wrong way. During her stop in Chicago last month, the "Roar" hitmaker—who received online flack for participating in the all-female Blue Origin Space mission earlier this year—told attendees after receiving a standing ovation, "Wow, they said I was the most hated person on the Internet."
She added, "I think that’s false."
