KUALA LUMPUR: Khee San Bhd

has inked a memorandum of understanding with the Federation of Sundry Goods Merchants Associations of Malaysia (FSGMAM) and business owner Dr Paul Lim Pang Kiam to collaborate on a a retail digitalisation and transformation programme for FSGMAM members.

In a joint statement, Khee San and FSGMAMM said the proposed platform will bring together retail management system (RMS) and point-of-sale (POS) capabilities, e-Invoice and e-Vendor portals, and a group-buying Trading Hub.

It said the Trading Hub would pool participating retailers’ orders to support bulk purchasing and help lower procurement costs.

Under the MOU, Khee San will sponsor and drive the programme. The parties plan to establish a Malaysian private limited company to own and operate the platform, with Khee San as majority shareholder and responsible for day-to-day management.

FSGMAM will promote the programme to members, coordinate onboarding and the selection of pilot members and suppliers, and represent member interests in governance.

Dr Lim originated the programme concept and brought the parties together.

It said the indicative roadmap envisages a pilot in months 1–6, broader Federation-wide rollout in months 7-12, and further scaling from year two, subject to planning and agreement.

"The programme is intended to give independent sundry goods retailers access to practical, affordable digital tools," said Khee San managing director Desmond Yong Loong Chen.
