Every company has product testers.

At Kim Lim's company, that person apparently happens to be... Kim herself.

The billionaire heiress-turned-entrepreneur recently revealed on Instagram that her recent weight gain wasn't simply the result of one too many birthday celebrations.

According to Kim, she intentionally gained between 5kg and 7kg so she could personally test new weight-loss products and treatments being developed for her beauty and wellness brand, Illumia.

Yes, the 35-year-old deliberately put on weight just to see if she could lose it again.

Looking at the photo she shared, though, we would've never guessed. She still looks as slim as ever.

Even so, Kim admitted the process has taken a toll on her.

“Honestly I am super depressed at how I look now,” she wrote.

Explaining her decision, Kim said that while she often says "no pain, no gain", the irony is that the treatments she develops are meant to be painless.

“I’m forever swollen from testing new products and trying new treatments on myself first,” she wrote.

Kim added that although she always wants to look and feel her best, personally testing every product is something she considers part of her responsibility as a business owner.

“If my products and treatments don’t work on me, they WILL NOT go out to you all. So every once in a while, this is what I have to do,” she wrote.

“I always tell myself ‘No choice, this is my sacrifice for our customers and brand’,” she added, explaining that it's how she stays motivated whenever the testing process gets difficult.

Kim also revealed that she'll be documenting the next 60 days on social media as she tests whether the products live up to her own standards before they're launched.

We've heard of beauty founders testing products on the back of their hands.

Kim, however, seems to have taken that commitment several kilos further.
