Jeong Suk Yong, dubbed Korea's "best supporting actor", recently surprised fans when he made an unexpected revelation on variety show Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 – You Are My Destiny: “I’m married!”

Turns out the 55-year-old, and his girlfriend, a music director five years his junior, are not yet married but consider themselves husband and wife.

“We’re living together and consider ourselves married,” said Suk Yong, best known for his standout roles in hits like zombie flick Train to Busan, and dramas A Taxi Driver and Signal.

Their love story is like a K-drama rom-com.

They have known each other for 15 to 20 years through work in theatre, but sparks only started flying after they met again after a long time.

Suk Yong suggested they grab a meal, and after that, "it just happened".

The couple has been dating for more than two and a half years and it was after a trip that they decided to spend their lives together.

“She’s great at planning trips, and I enjoy following. That balance made me want to spend my life with her,” he said.

After moving in together, their lives have become fully intertwined.

Suk Yong admitted he’s now changed his daily routine to sync with his partner’s.

“I used to go to bed early, like 10pm. But she’s a night owl, since she works on music late into the night. In the mornings, when I see her peacefully sleeping, she looks so adorable,” he said with a smile.

Not one to skip breakfast, he's now started fasting after living with his girlfriend.

The couple is also super sweet.

She calls him "crazy handsome" and he says she resembles Jewel in the Palace star Lee Young Ae.

Fans couldn’t be more thrilled for the actor, once a frequent target of “when are you getting married?” questions, for having found the one.

“Congrats to this golden bachelor on graduating from single life!” wrote one netizen, while another said: “No surprise — even love stories follow a romantic script when you're a great actor!”
