Kevin Costner might have some unexpected wingmen working behind the scenes. Longtime friends and Aspen neighbors Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are allegedly trying to play matchmaker for the recently single Yellowstone star.

“Kurt and Goldie have been loyal friends of Kevin’s for more than twenty years,” a source told Closer. “It wasn’t always that way: in the ’90s, Kevin and Kurt were fierce competitors.” The insider points to a well-known moment of overlap — when Costner dropped out of Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, Russell stepped in to take over the role of Ace Woody. (That role ultimately went to Walton Goggins after both actors exited the project.) “But at some point, at the end of that decade, Kurt and Kevin got on the same page… and the friendship has persisted to this day.”

That friendship reportedly includes a shared interest in Costner’s love life. “Nothing would make Kurt and Goldie happier than to set Kevin up with one of their Aspen friends,” the source added. But matchmaking a Hollywood workaholic has its challenges. “The problem is that Kevin is a massive workaholic and perfectionist who kind of hates socializing and partying just for the sake of it.”

It’s not for lack of opportunity. Costner, 70, was rumored to be romantically linked to singer Jewel after they were spotted together in late 2023. Though he later insisted they were only friends, multiple outlets reported that he had tried to date her, with insiders claiming he underestimated her focus on her own creative pursuits. “He would have loved to collaborate with her and even date her,” one source previously told Life & Style, “but he has to resign himself to being her number one fan instead.”

Despite the occasional headline involving high-profile women — Jewel, Jennifer Lopez, even Sharon Stone — Costner reportedly has one non-negotiable. According to previous reports from Us Weekly, “Kevin doesn’t like dating Hollywood actresses and Hollywood people. He likes a more average woman.”
