Hi all, like to seek advice on my rental situation. I have just move in to my old couple landlord house few months back but throughout the months I have contacted my agent with regards to the following situations stated below however the advise given was to move out of if I can’t deal with lady landlord.

1. I stated before hand that I’m only staying for 6 months only before moving and signing any lease which tenant agreed upon.

2. Lease agreement is $800 with aircon or $700 w/o aircon, include utilities and 2 times washing of clothes a week. However, as I don’t go home often my clothes are less and therefore every wash quantity would qualify in her eyes as “a lot” of clothes and I’m wasting her utilities money. Threaten me that if I continue to wash even with less quantity she will be charging me additional utilities.

3. She has been threatening me to chase me out as I forget to off my electricity before leaving for work while she herself also forget and I did took picture of those times but it’s her house so she can do whatever she wants and I have to be threaten by her as my tenancy have yet to reach the min stay period of 6 months.

4. I was required to buy my own floor mop, vacuum and other stuff to keep my room clean and can’t use the landlady ones as she mention that me and the other tenant “does not take care of her item”. All these items are to be kept in our room as she does not have “enough space”.

5. She had dashed in my room several times to tell me an unimportant matter with occasion where I was fully undress. From that point on I lock my room every time I’m home.

6. Washed clothes sometimes have no place to hang at the house where I was forced to hang this wet clothes in my own room. I was called selfish for washing my clothes even though they are less and did not schedule properly. I’m only wfh on Tuesday and Wednesday which allow me to monitor my own clothes while it’s being dried outside as she does not help me to move them during wet weather.

7. She has some weird rule on her kettle where she want us to pour the water immediately out after boiling and we have to “air” it out so the kettle won’t turn “cloudy” due to water Vapor. There are numerous times she nag about that which I bought my own kettle to put in my room for my own use. She then send me a WhatsApp message to say no cooking of food on the tenancy agreement and if I want to book the water I have to boil them outside and keep in my room immediately.

Due to the insufficient quantity of clothes washing, she asked me out the next day by asking me to move once my lease hit 6 months. I contacted the agent to let him know that I can’t deal with her anymore and I would like to end it 1 month in advance instead. I’m currently thinking if I should pay for the last month rental or just use the deposit to offset as I’m sure she would find ways and excuses to deduct the deposit to compensate for items she felt was “damaged” or charge me “extra utility” for washing clothes as per the agreement but not much enough which result in “wasting utility bills”. Like to hear opinions of tenant and landlord if such practice of keeping everything in the room and buying almost everything to the extend of mop and floor mop soap is a practice.
