Lauren Sánchez’s Kids: All About Her 3 Children & Their Relationship With Jeff Bezos
Lauren Sánchez is a proud mom of three kids: two sons and a daughter!
Long before meeting her soon-to-be husband, Jeff Bezos, Sánchez became a mom for the first time in 2001, when she welcomed her son Nikko with her ex-boyfriend, former NFL player Tony Gonzalez. Then working as a news reporter and TV host, Sánchez went on to welcome two more kids with her now ex-husband, Patrick Whitesell. Their son, Evan, was born in 2006, and their daughter, Ella, joined the brood in 2008.
Life couldn’t be happier for Sánchez as she prepares to officially become a stepmom to Bezos’ four kids and expand her family, whom she has already compared to the Brady Bunch. “On a typical Saturday, we hang out, we have dinner with the kids, which is always fun because you never know where the conversation is going to go with this many kids,” Sánchez told The Wall Street Journal in January 2023. “We are the Brady Bunch!”
Sánchez’s kids are 24-year-old Nikko Gonzalez, 19-year-old Evan Whitesell, and 17-year-old Ella Whitesell.
Nikko was born on February 12, 2001, while Sánchez was in a relationship with Tony Gonzalez, who was a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs at the time.
Sánchez and Gonzalez split not long after Nikko was born, but they remained close friends. She opened up about co-parenting with Gonzalez to WSJ in 2023, saying, “My greatest example is the relationship I have with my eldest son’s father, Tony. She added, “I learned how to co-parent with him, so I have more experience than Jeff [Bezos] might have. Tony and his wife are my best friends.”
In a 2023 Vogue profile, Sánchez revealed that Nikko was living in New York City with his girlfriend and working at Zero Bond while remotely finishing his degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder. In May 2024, Sánchez shared photos from his graduation, writing, “I am so proud of you.”
Nikko made his runway debut in January 2024 when he walked the runway for Dolce & Gabbana.
Nikko opened up about bonding with Bezos to Vogue, saying, “It’s hard to beat Jeff at chess.”
“Everyone really just gets along,” he said of their blended family. “There’s no real alliances. It’s kind of boring in that way.”
Nikko also supported his mom and Bezos at the January launch of Blue Origin’s Glenn Rocket, writing on Instagram, “Congrats to the Blue Origin team.”
Sanchez welcomed her second son, Evan, in June 2006, a little under a year after marrying businessman Patrick Whitesell.
Evan and his siblings grew up in Los Angeles and went to school there. Sanchez told Vogue that she and Whitesell shared custody of Evan and Ella, “alternating weeks” after their 2019 divorce following her affair with Bezos. Evan is also close with his dad’s side of the family, including his stepsiblings from his dad’s wife, Pia Whitesell. He was pictured at his stepbrother Lennox’s high school graduation in June 2025, in images Pia shared in her Instagram Stories.
In December 2024, Sanchez posted an Instagram Story, according to People, revealing that Evan had been accepted into the University of Miami, where he plans to study business.
Evan is the most private of his siblings, but he does seem to be taking after his mom in some ways. In a now-deleted August 2024 post, the pilot gushed about her son’s first solo helicopter flight, writing, “I can’t believe my baby soled [sic] a helicopter today.”
He has also joined Bezos on family vacations and seems to have a good rapport with the Blue Origin founder.
Sánchez and Whitesell welcomed Eleanor Patricia, a.k.a. Ella, in January 2008.
Like Evan, Ella is pretty private, but her mom did share a touching tribute to her on her 16th birthday in 2024. “I can’t believe you are already 16,” she wrote. “It seems like just yesterday I took this pic of you. In your quiet strength, you’ve grown, not with loud fanfares, but with the gentle grace of a sunrise. Each day, you show us the beauty of dedication and the power of quiet dreams.”
“We love you for everything you are, and everything you’re yet to become. I love you beyond words,” Sánchez added.
In her Vogue profile, Sánchez opened up about raising a teen and their daily ritual of driving to school together. “Sometimes we tussle,” Sánchez said. “Other times she really opens up, and other times she says nothing and I take it in.” Vogue also reported on a sweet tradition Ella has with Bezos, writing that each morning he tells her, “Don’t learn anything I wouldn’t learn!” Eventually, Ella began finishing the phrase for him.
