When LeAnn Rimes and her husband Eddie Cibirian first started dating, their relationship was anything but simple. After all, both of themwere still married to other people at the time. And while they’ve been together in the many years since, the two are still acknowledging everything they’ve been through along the way.

In a new interview with Flow Space, Rimes reflected on “all of the craziness we went through” at the beginning of their relationship.

According to her, one of her biggest takeaways was people’s reactions to their affair. “I realized very quickly that there are a lot of women who’ve been hurt. Like, I’ve been on both sides of that coin—I’ve been cheated on, too, so I know that feeling,” she said. “But so many women don’t know what to do with that anger… I was a target that was just easily projected upon. And once I realized that, things got a lot easier.”

“Instead of taking it so personally, it’s like, look: This is not all my pain to carry. I know what I’m responsible for in the situation and making amends for that,” she explained. “But you know, the world’s pain is not mine to carry, and I think that really got thrown at me for a long time.”

As a reminder, when Rimes and Cibrian fell in love on the set of the Lifetime movie Northern Lights in 2008, Cibrian was married to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville, whom he shares two sons with, while Rimes was married to renowned chef Dean Sheremet since 2002.

Later in the interview, Rimes talked about her relationship with Cibrian, now 14 years since their 2011 wedding. Rimes said their daily life includes cooking healthy recipes she finds on Pinterest and going to sleep early. Their secret? “We are in bed by 7:30!” she said.

“She is so proactive in her health journey—emotionally, physically, spiritually,” Cibrian added of his wife. “That it’s truly inspiring.”

Looks like Cibrian continues to only have eyes for Rimes!
