Liam Gallagher has sent his prayers to those affected by the Liverpool car attack. On Monday, as thousands of people gathered across the streets to celebrate Liverpool FC's Premier League victory parade, a car ploughed into the crowd, leaving dozens injured.

A white British man, 53, from the Liverpool area, was arrested shortly after the incident, Merseyside Police confirmed. Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said the "horrific incident" was notbeing treated as terrorism following the arrest at the scene.

Now, Oasis icon Liam has taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, joining a string of famous faces to send their thoughts. "Thoughts and prayers with all our brothers and sisters of LIVERPOOL," he said to his 3.8 million followers. Former Atomic Kitten star, Natasha Hamilton, has also condemned the attack.

The singer shared a snap of her dad and nephew taken in the city centre prior to the parade. She said: "My dad & nephew were in Liverpool today at the celebration parade. Then I saw a video of what happened and my heart sank. Thankfully they're both safe but I am absolutely horrified at what I saw today and my thoughts & prayers are with all those affected! #YNWA."

Paddy McGuinness shared a snap of the Liverpool FC emblem on the side of Anfield Stadium alongside the caption: "Liverpool is a great city full of good people. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Merseysude. #ynwa."

Mixed martial artist icon, Paddy Pimblett, known as Paddy The Baddy said: "Went the parade today amazing support as always for our reds nobody does celebrations and parades like us @liverpoolfc. Taking the baby's their first ever parade today was a memory I'll never forget the looks on their little faces looking at the spectacle and I'll have the pictures and videos to show them when they grow up.

"Still cannot believe what actually happened after it, day of celebration turned into a worry for everyone who was there or even knew anybody there, friends and family messaging to make sure that they are safe something that we shouldn't have to do or worry about. I hope anyone injured has a fast recovery and anyone affected already knows they have the full city supporting them, red or blue it doesn't matter. Things like this are more important than football YNWA."

Former Brookside star Jennifer Ellison told fans how she had "never been so terrified," having been at the parade. She told her 153,000 Instagram followers: "Home safe. Never been so terrified. Can't believe we were on the actual road. Praying for all the injured and the families of those. Just traumatic."

Gabby Allen told fans she was "horrified" by the incident. Writing on Instagram to her 1.3 million followers, the Liverpudlian said: "Absolutely fkn horrified to see what happened at the Liverpool parade today. I've only just seen!!

"Today was a huge celebration for our city to be remembered in history for something special. Instead it has been ruined by violence and hate. Liverpool has the strongest community there is. Everybody will rise and come together more than ever now. Nobody could ever break that. Sending love to everybody who attended the parade today in hope of making happy memories not to be in fear for their lives.

"What kind of world is this we are living in?As far as I can see there aren't any fatalities? I hope those who were caught in the crash are doing as ok as they can be and are safe now with their families."

Love Island star Sharon Gaffka also took to social media to share that she had been on Water Street just moments before the incident. She said: "I wasn't sure if it was going to be insensitive to post this, but after seeing so much love and community online, I wanted to share a small moment from yesterday."Like almost 1 million other Liverpool fans, I was in the city to celebrate, in the rain, with some of the people I love, proud of this club and everything it means to people.

"What unfolded after was terrifying and heartbreaking. My thoughts are with everyone affected by the events. And I hope everyone got home safely. What struck me most wasn’t just the devastation, but how this city responded. I've seen so many fans and locals offering lifts, shelter and comfort to complete strangers - because that’s what Liverpool is. It's resilience. It's community. John Bishop, who was born in Everton, said on Instagram he was also at the parade. Taking to Instagram, he said: "I was at the parade today with my dad and like everyone else I am shocked and heartbroken about the events at the end of the Liverpool parade. My heart goes out to all those affected. Our anthem could not be more appropriate. You'll Never Walk Alone."

Lioness and Scouse legend, Toni Duggan, who played for Everton, said: "Thinking of anyone affected in that awful incident today. Praying everyone is ok." Singer Chelcee Grimes, also from Liverpool added: "I'm fine for everyone messaging. I hope you and your loved ones are okay and you make it/made it home safe. What a sad end to what was supposed to be a fantastic day."

Liverpudlian and Big Brother star Paul Blackburn shared: "We stand together like we always do! A day of celebration turned into shock and worry for our city, love and prayers to everyone involved today and all their families, it could have been any of us here today! All sport aside… We are scousers, we have each other's backs till the end!"

Local rock band Circa Waves said on Instagram: "Sending love to everyone at the parade yesterday. What an awful ending to it. Hoping everyone's safe." Former Liverpool footballer, Jamie Carragher, said on X: "Devastating end to the day… Just pray everyone is ok."

Robbie Fowler added: "Heartbreaking news... Absolutely sickened with what's happened here in Liverpool." Former Liverpool player John Aldridge tweeted: "For all the LFC family to all the people affected from today's horrific event, YNWA."

Real Housewives of Cheshire star Tanya Bardsley shared a snap of the iconic Liver Buildings surrounded by red celebratory smoke, alongside the caption: "My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Liverpool. The greatest people and city of all time. I can't believe this has happened."

Former Brookside star Claire Sweeney, who hails from Liverpool, said on Instagram: "Devastated to see what happened in Liverpool last night. Praying for the injured. YNWA."

Former Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, said on X: "I am absolutely horrified by the scenes in Liverpool. My thoughts are with everybody affected. Liverpool will always hold a special place in my heart — it is a city of unique strength, spirit and unity. Tonight and always, you'll never walk alone."

In a statement shared on X, Liverpool Football Club said: "We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident. We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident."

Four people were also trapped underneath a vehicle, including three adults and one child. Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said: "I want to thank all of the emergency services, partner agencies and members of the public who came to the assistance of the injured following this evening's shocking incident, which we declared a major incident. This had been a joyous day in Liverpool with hundreds of thousands of people lining the streets to celebrate Liverpool Football Club's victory parade."

"A number of people have been injured and were taken to hospital. In addition, a large number of people of all ages were treated at the scene, but did not require hospital treatment."

At a press conference late on Monday evening, Dave Kitchin from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said 27 people were taken to hospital and 20 people were treated at the scene, with four children among the injured. He said two of those taken to the hospital, including one of the children, suffered serious injuries. Mr Kitchin said some patients had also taken themselves to local hospitals.

Merseyside Police said it was called to an incident on Water Street shortly after 6pm, on the day Liverpool were celebrating their Premier League title win with their fans. A dark grey people-carrier was seen driving through the crowd, ploughing into dozens of fans while relentlessly beeping its horn.

The car reportedly stalled mid-way through the street, before later continuing to accelerate into the crowd. Horrific footage at the scene showed numerous people thrown to the floor as the car continued to accelerate. It subsequently came to a stop in the middle of Water Street, and police rushed in to surround the vehicle.

Shortly after the incident, police released a statement urging people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding the incident. They said: "Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision. We would ask people not to share distressing content online but to send the footage or information directly to us @MerPolCC or pass on information by calling 101 quoting log 784."

Merseyside Police confirmed that the incident isn't terror related (

Sir Keir Starmer has said he had spoken to the Mayor of Liverpool about the incident, adding: "Everyone, especially children, should be able to celebrate their heroes without this horror."

In a statement, Starmer said: "The scenes in Liverpool are appalling — my thoughts are with all those injured or affected." The Prime Minister later added: “Tonight, I have spoken to Steve Rotheram about the terrible events in Liverpool and the remarkable bravery shown by the police and other emergency services.

"They are supporting and caring for those injured in these terrible events. Everyone, especially children, should be able to celebrate their heroes without this horror. The city has a long and proud history of coming together through difficult times. Liverpool stands together and the whole country stands with Liverpool."
