LISBON: Residents of the Lisbon region will not be allowed to leave the area at weekends as authorities scramble to control a spike in COVID-19 infections, the government said on Thursday (Jun 17).

People living in the 18 municipalities of Lisbon's metropolitan area will be banned from leaving from 3pm on Friday until 6am on Monday. Those living outside the area will not be allowed in.
