Transfers are often like a line of dominoes: when one piece topples, a myriad follow in a ripple effect. As activity intensifies in the market, a few Liverpool players could be part of domino effects during the final weeks of the summer transfer window. Liverpool will be relying on forces out of their control with the club currently in a predicament. Their current squad size has prohibited Liverpool to bring in extra reinforcements with the club currently possessing an excess of players, particularly in the non-homegrown category. Xherdan Shaqiri's departure to Lyon already looks almost inevitable and that will free up one space. But his departure alone will not be enough. Fortunately, there are a few 'dominoes' that could fall in the coming days and who could affect Liverpool's business positively this summer. One such transfer is the departure of Jannik Vestergaard from Southampton with the Norwegian set to sign for Leicester City in a £15m deal.Read MoreRelated ArticlesRead MoreRelated ArticlesHis departure will facilitate the need for Southampton to add a centre-back to their ranks and with Nathaniel Phillips available for the same price after an impressive season, the domino effect may lead a path towards Liverpool.Phillips' departure could provide extra funds in order to bolster Liverpool's transfer kitty. However, Vestergaard's domino effect will not solve Liverpool's homegrown problem.Even with Xherdan Shaqiri's departure Liverpool still have 17 non-homegrown players which is the maximum amount you can register for a Premier League season. If Liverpool are to enter the market, they must trim those 17 players. The most likely candidates to be cut could be Divock Origi or Loris Karius. And Origi could be involved in a domino effect of his own. If they could somehow find a way to cut Loris Karius from the squad too, there would be space for even two potential new arrivals to be registered into the club's Premier League squad.Who those new arrivals will be and whether there will be any remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Liverpool's does not appear to be over. Klopp has hinted at that previously in an interview with TV2: You have to make changes from time to time, but then there must be room to do it. We do not want more players. If something happens somewhere, something can happen somewhere else, but it makes no sense to add more players. The domino effect is what Liverpool's transfer policy will hinge on. And fans will be hoping Michael Edwards will be able to flog some of the club's deadwood in order to bolster the squad before the window shuts. Read MoreRelated ArticlesRead MoreRelated Articles
