Loke: Madani special car plate numbers fetch RM2.6mil in bids

KUALA LUMPUR: The bidding for the Madani special number plate series ended last night, generating RM2.6 million in total, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Loke shared the early report detailing the bidding results during a press conference on Rapid KL's post-2025 Budget operations briefing.

"We have raised a total of RM2.6 million as of to date. The statement regarding the bidding results would be issued soon," he told the reporters.

The Road Transport Department (RTD) opened bids for Madani series special registration numbers with a minimum price of as low as RM100 from Oct 19-23 through the JPJeBid System.

The special registration numbers bid results would be issued on Oct 24 and the registration number that was successfully bid must be registered within 12 months from the date the official bid result letter is issued.

The minimum bid price for the number plate series was set according to category namely RM20,000 for 'Main Number', RM5,000 (Premium Number), RM2,500 (Attractive Number), RM500 (Popular Number) and RM100 (Running Number).

RTD director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the sale proceeds would be used to realise the implementation of initiatives under the Transport Ministry such as the MyLESEN and Helmet Exchange programmes, FlySISWA, Socso payments to taxi drivers and various other initiatives.

"This was a government initiative to support the Madani Malaysia agenda by promoting civic values," he said.
